    Comeback Centuries

I remember when I first started watching cricket in the late 90s Martyn was talked about on comms as a player who was essentially forgotten and may never come back. and 94 or whenever he had last played a test seemed like an age ago. Could have easily gone down in history as another what if...

Make an Eleven of Worst Players to Have won the ODI World Cup

I knew about the 100s stat and thought that might have inflated his reputation a bit as an "aggressive" one day player since it was hard to get em back then. McMillan, Twose, Cairns and Styris all struck higher than him too. Fleming was within a whisker of him. Like, 72 is probably in the...

Make an Eleven of Worst Players to Have won the ODI World Cup

I watched every game of cricket I could from 1998 onwards, just didn't have foxtel so that was mainly limited to matches featuring Australia Also, how old are you? I get the feeling we're roughly the same age. You must have had foxtel tho lucky bastard

Make an Eleven of Worst Players to Have won the ODI World Cup

Strike rate of 72 for an ODI career spanning 95-07 seems pretty stodgy I reckon. Or at least, not "aggressive" Bevan, the Waughs, Martyn and Lehmann all struck higher. I didn't know that tho re what Fuller said about fast starts followed by him slowing up to bat through the innings though.

Make an Eleven of Worst Players to Have won the ODI World Cup

Fair. I guess Nathan Astle is another example of a bloke who had one rapid huge test score but was relatively slow in ODI batting

Make an Eleven of Worst Players to Have won the ODI World Cup

Fredericks hit 169 off 145 balls in a test in an era when that was nearly unheard of, he's easily someone who could have been an ODI great if he debuted 10 years later. Hate seeing him mentioned In fact I'd wager up to that point in history, maybe only Bradman had reached a 150+ test score in...

    Musical chairs among captains

And then were super stable for the next 2 decades, Hansie - Pollock - Smith all getting long reigns. Interesting contrast

Who do you think is the greatest home track bully of all time?

Gut says Hayden, despite the 203 Got test tons in Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and even Cairns!

Whats the worst cricket tournament you have seen?

My only issue with the Super 6 is its a lot of games to cull 6 teams to 4. I kinda like the idea of the 1/3 finals like FP said, or possibly even the top 2 of the Super 6 just reach the final

Whats the worst cricket tournament you have seen?

I'm not someone who desperately pretends to be nonchalant 24/7. I admit it does piss me off, it was such a disappointing way to end such a long, prestigious tournament

Whats the worst cricket tournament you have seen?

Yes, currently I believe they consider it a win.

Whats the worst cricket tournament you have seen?

2019 WC. I'm sorry but a boundary count back is the most disgraceful way of splitting 2 drawn sides ever. It's not any indication one side was better than the other. May as well have flipped a coin. No true cricket fan really recognises that as anything other than a drawn WC and I genuinely...

Great non-test FC innings by test greats

On that note, Martin Love I think has some crazy record in Sheffield Shield finals, something like 5 tons from 6 appearances One of them might count as a great knock

I didn't want to spectulate but those were my initial thoughts too

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/well-known-english-cricket-figure-under-investigation-for-alleged-drink-spiking-1502519 Apparently aged in their 40s and the rumours are they were part of the Ashes 05 squad.

Great non-test FC innings by test greats

Maxwell's 278 should have been the innings that gave him a chance of being a test great

*Official* South Africa Test Tour of Zimbabwe 2025

I wonder if the reaction to Voges averaging 100 at one point has influenced this "I'm not worthy" mentality actually
