Chaminda Vaas to miss opener

Sri Lanka’s premier swing bowler Chaminda Vaas is to miss the start of the upcoming triangular series starting next week.

Vaas sustained a slight hamstring injury during the second test between against the West Indies and as a result hasn’t been able to bowl since, with batting also a problem resulting in a runner being required to finish his innings.

Originally the injury wasn’t expected to be that serious and Vaas was removed from the attack more as a precautionary measure; however the injury after further assessment will see the swing bowler out of action for between 7 to 10 days, ruling him out of at least the opening ODI.
