Border: Jones punished enough

Former Australian captain and current selector Allan Border has asked the cricketing world not to turn their back on Dean Jones, following his “terrorist” comment directed to South African player Hashim Amla, during the second Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa earlier this week.

Border feels Jones has been punished enough for the comment, and says it doesn’t show his true character.

Jones was immediately sacked by Ten Sports after making the comment.

Border was the captain of the Australian team during Dean Jones’ career and says he was one of the guys to try and break the angst down between Australian players and Indian/Pakistani players.

Border went on to say that he got to know those players really well, and enjoyed touring the subcontinent, and had showed no racist behaviour.

Jones is hopeful he will be able to continue his commentating career with another broadcaster during the Champions Trophy in October.

The International Cricket Council confirmed that they will take no action over the incident.
