Akhtar close to Pakistan return

Shoaib Akhtar is close to a return for Pakistan for the upcoming tour of Scotland after being named in a 20 man provisional squad.

Akhtar has struggled with injuries over the past year and has only turned out for one Test and four one-day internationals since February 2006.

Chairman of selectors Salahuddin Ahmed told Reuters that “He has been working hard to get back into top shape and he remains one of our main strike bowlers, so we have decided to bring him back into the reckoning for selection.”

Ahamed went onto say “At the camp, Shoaib has to prove he has made a complete recovery from his knee and ankle injuries.”
