Warne questions Bang/Zimb Status

Shane Warne, Kim Hughes and Richie Benaud have called for Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to be kicked out of international cricket following a continuation of being “embarrassed and humiliated” every week.

Bangladesh lost by an innings and 261 runs last week to England.

Across their 37 tests Bangladesh have been defeated 32 times and have recorded only one test victory over fellow strugglers Zimbabwe since entering the test arena in 1999.

Bangladesh have had 21 innings defeats with the worst coming against Pakistan in 2001 (by 264 runs) and England in 2005 (by 261 runs).

Warne said that if Bangladesh and Zimbabwe had their test status removed it would help free up the playing schedule and allow for a better standard of international cricket while Kim Hughes said “It’s embarrassing. It’s bad for the game. It belittles averages and aggregates. And it’s bad for spectators. Why would you go along and watch that lot?”

Warne does however suggest that Bangladesh &and Zimbabwe take on first-class teams and host ‘A’ team tours to try and improve their standard of play.
