Sri Lankan board dissolved

The Sri Lankan government has dissolved the country’s national cricket board, for as many as the third time in a period of six years.

An interim committee, headed by Jayantha Dharmadasa, the head of Nawaloka Hospitals and chairman of Sri Lanka Film Association, has been put in place to take over the duties.

The sports minister, Jeevan Kumaratunga, justified the dissolution based on the poor financial status the board had found itself in ever since the last management changes.

Kumaratunga said, “I have had so many complaints saying that there are various financial mismanagements at Sri Lanka Cricket and this time when I got the accounts I went through them very carefully and found out everything was not right. Their have been a lot of wastages and their seems to be no accountability. It’s my job to put cricket back on track.”
