Scott Styris passed fit

Scott Styris could make his much-anticipated return to the Black Caps side next Sunday, according to team officials.

Stryis has been suffering from a calf strain, but looks set to make his comeback against the Aussies in Perth.

He should join the squad immediately after playing for Auckland against Northern Districts in a State Shield match on Wednesday, provided of course that he comes through that game unscathed.

However, while Styris’ injury situation looks to be quite clear, the same cannot be said for Shane Bond.

Bond underwent light training yesterday, but medical scans are yet to reveal exactly what the problem with his back is.

The (relatively) good news is that all major injuries have been ruled out. Having said that, it still appears as though he is far from being match-fit.

With Kyle Mills and Jacob Oram making a much needed return to an injury-hit Black Caps side, there might not be room left for Bond in the CB series unless he can prove his fitness in the near future.
