Scotland book place in finals

On paper, this clash looked far closer than it eventually turned out to be. Scotland turned in a good all round performance to beat hosts Kenya.

Scotland won the toss at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi and elected to bat.

A partnership of 103 between Fraser Watts and Majid Haq got Scotland off to a great start. With Gavin Hamilton also contributing with 58, Scotland were assured of a competitive total.

Steve Tikolo took three wickets for Kenya, including the valuable wicket of Majid Haq.

Scotland made 254 from their 50 overs.

Kenya’s batting, which has been so reliable in this tournament failed to gain any momentum. A number of players got starts, but could not convert this into much needed partnerships. Thomas Odoyo who has had a great tournament with the bat scored a valuable 53, but Kenya were eventually all out in the 46th over for 177.

Scotland are now into the finals of the tournament, and Kenya have to beat Canada tomorrow to also play in the finals.

Scotland 254-8
Fraser Watts 58, Majid Haq 71
Steve Tikolo 3-46

Scotland won by 77 runs

Kenya 177
Thomas Odoyo 53
Majid Haq 3-26, John Blain 3-28
