PCB bans players from ICL

The Pakistan Cricket Board has banned current and former players from taking part in the Indian Cricket League.

PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf told media that “The ICL is not recognised by the International Cricket Council or its member boards so there is no question of our players going to play there.”

It is understood from various sources that Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Inzamam-ul-Haq had been approached to take part in the competition.

Ashraf said if any player took part in the league, they would not be selected for Pakistan again. He told reporters “We have clauses in our central contracts clearly outlining the board decides where the players can play.”

Ashraf went onto say “Even where former players are concerned if they are not holding any position with the board we can’t stop them. But those who are working for us will not be given permission to play in the Indian league.”
