Keith Piper To Face Disciplinary

Warwickshire wicket-keeper Keith Piper will appear before a disciplinary panel on Thursday after testing positive for the illegal drug cannabis during Warwickshire’s match against Glamorgan in April.

If the panel finds against Piper a ban would ensue and in all reality signal the end of Piper’s playing career at the age of 35.

Piper has been caught before for taking illegal drugs when he failed an internally conducted drugs test in 1997, he escaped lightly on that occasion serving just a one-match ban, but if found guilty this time around a much heftier sentence is likely to ensue.

Warwickshire are also coming under pressure, as measures supposed to be bought in after the Wagg incident last summer have never got past the drawing board and allowed history to repeat itself.
