Jones still a doubt for Pakistan

England pace bowler Simon Jones only has a 50% chance of touring Pakistan, because of his ankle injury.

Jones, who has a scan on Friday, suffered a bone spur in his ankle during the 4th Ashes test at Trent Bridge causing him to miss the last test of the series.

With England arriving in Pakistan on 26 October, Jones must prove his fitness at a training camp in Loughborough on 17 October.

‘It is very much 50-50 with him,’ England physio Kirk Russell said. ‘We have an England camp on October 17 and 18 at Loughborough; he needs to be bowling then for him to be declared fit to tour Pakistan.’

If Jones is unable to tour Pakistan it will be a huge blow for England, with the dry and dusty pitches of Pakistan suiting Jones’ bowling style, and his ability to bowl reverse swing.
