Jones apologises to Hashim Amla

Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones has apologised to South African player Hashim Amla for calling him a terrorist while on commentary during the second test between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Jones was immediately sacked by his South African television employer and headed back to Melbourne.

Jones told media back in Australia that he had “done a stupid thing” and was “sorry, it had been picked up on air”.

Jones added that he has wrote a full page letter expressing his apologies to all parties, and had also apologised to Amla in person prior to leaving Sri Lanka who had accepted his apology.
