Inzi says “No” to World XI

Inzamam-ul-Haq has declined his selection to the World Test XI which will play Australia in the upcoming Super Series. The Pakistani star batsman gave his reason as a desire for respect, claiming miscommunication between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ICC and himself.

Initially Inzamam was excluded from the World XI, but was informed last Wednesday by the PCB that he would feature in both the ODI and Test squad, as a replacement for Sachin Tendulkar.

Just two days later, however, the ICC announced that Inzamam had been selected only to the Super Test squad. Chris Gayle and Rahul Dravid are the replacements who will feature in the One Day matches.

The incumbent Pakistan captain considers the whole situation a mark of disrespect.
