India enjoy batting practice

India’s three day tour match against a Zimbabwe Board XI has ended in a draw, with the tourists opting to spend time in the middle.

Resuming on 365 for 2 overnight, India lost the wickets of VVS Laxman, Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh in quick time to slump to 399 for 5. Dinesh Karthik and Anil Kumble both batted with application, reaching 40 and 61 respectively. Rahul Dravid was left on 108 not out as the Indians declared at 572 for 9. Graeme Cremer took the last three wickets to finish with 4 for 148.

Just 18 overs where left for the Board XI to bat, in which Brendon Taylor and Hamilton Masakadza showed promising form to reach 98 for 1. Taylor battled his way to 36 not out, while Masakadza was unbeaten on 58 at the close.
