Hosts Kenya do it again

Fresh from victories in their opening matches of the ICC World Cricket League, this clash between hosts Kenya and the Netherlands promised to be an interesting match. However, this encounter proved to be rather one sided, as Kenya marched to victory in the 32nd over.

Kenya won the toss and elected to bowl. Heavy overnight rain freshened up the pitch at the Nairobi Gymkhana Club into a greenish carpet.

In overcast conditions Kenyan opening bowlers Thomas Odoyo and Peter Ongondo bowled tightly. Both openers fell cheaply to Odoyo, with regular wickets being lost thereafter. The Netherlands never really got going, and were eventually all out for 131 from 46.2 overs.

Top scorer for the Netherlands was Daan van Bunge who made 29 before being bowled by 22-year-old left arm orthodox spinner Hiren Varaiya

By the time Kenya came to bat the humid overcast conditions had eased, and the Kenyans found batting far easier than it had been earlier in the day. Both openers Maurice Ouma (47) and David Obuya (37) shared an opening stand of 89. Next batsman Ravi Shah was out soon after the openers, but by then the match had been won by Kenya easily.

Netherlands 131 (46.2 overs)
Daan van Bunge 29, Billy Stelling 24
Thomas Odoyo 3-29, Peter Ongondo 2-13

Kenya win by 7 wickets

Kenya 133-3 (32.1 overs)
Maurice Ouma 47, David Obuya 37
Tim de Leede 2-28
