Hayden in for CB series
Liam Camps |Matthew Hayden has been included in the Australia one-day international squad for the upcoming Commonwealth Bank series. With Shane Watson ruled out through a hamstring injury and Damien Martyn’s retirement, the selectors have elected to reward Hayden for good domestic form by naming him in the 13-man squad.
Fellow openers Phil Jaques and Chris Rogers have been excluded from the squad, and Hayden is expected to join Adam Gilchrist at the top of the order as the series kicks off on January 12. Also included in the squad are allrounder Cameron White and pace bowling talent Mitchell Johnson.
White and Mitchell have been included in the squad for Australia’s Twenty20 match against England, due to be played next week. Ben Hilfenhaus – the Tasmania seamer – has also been called into the squad. Australia face England in the first match of the Commonwealth Bank series next week Friday. New Zealand is the third team of the tri-series.
