guppy is definitely a chance now. Back to back centuries, both should be match winning. one more good performance and he could get this

I remember there were basically speculations in 96. If Australia wins, it would be Mark Waugh. If Sri Lanka wins, it would be Jayasuriya. Eventually Jayasuriya won it, but frankly it should have been De Silva.

Yeah, that was very neat and objective. In every match, they would pick top 3 players who would get 3, 2 and 1 points. At the end, one with most points won MOTS.

Jayasuriya got announced MotS before the final, and since Klusener didn't even play the final, he probably did too.

Boult more likely. Consistent throughout. Guptill just turned it on in the last 2 games.

Don't reember the rest but Yuvraj was announced as the MotS while the final was underway. Maybe 6-7 overs before the end I think.

Aravinda was definitely better in the big games. Won the semi and the final pretty much on his own.

Absolutely Aravinda was the MVP of the '96 win.

Definitely remember whilst watching the '99 final, the comms were saying that Klusener was asked to remain for the final. Guess it was "decided" that he would get it, but wasn't made public before the final.
