Madness. You are basing this off one Dhoni innings? It's hardly like Dhoni has won many cup knockout games chasing. Sure the 91 was class but AB got one chance at chasing in a knockout and was run out by a team mate. We don't exactly remember Bevan for cup chasing moments either do we?

He has won multiple important LO games chasing, including but certainly not limited to that WC final.

What is so wrong in saying Kohli or Dhoni are better chasers than ABDV?

Kohli has 13 tons in successful chases.

ABDV has 4.

ABDV is a freak in setting up matches from the first innings, but let us not construct this myth of him being the pre eminent chaser of them all. Kohli runs rings around him in chases, there is no comparison.

Yes he does come in a spot or sometimes two higher. But he is good enough to still be there to finish games. Is one of the greatest strikers to play the game and is imo better than either Bevan or Dhoni at doing it. Fortunately in an XI I could bat all 3 if I wanted.

This Dhoni vs. AB as a finisher debate is interesting because at the time when SA were collapsing vs. Pakistan but AB was still in my mate and I got into a debate as to who we would want in at this time. We each had 3 batsmen to choose from. Pure gut, didn't refer to stats. Just who we would want.

Sanga
AB

Its hard go gauge opinion but in that specific scenario I think Dhoni would have been the option most people in world cricket would take. Its splitting hairs though.
