And not to forget, Ireland still hast to beat Zimbabwe.
This. I believe everyone is assuming that Ireland will beat Zimbabwe. Its going to be very tough with Zimbabwe also playing well.
Actually, even if Zimbabwe beat Ireland, Pak-Ireland match will still be a knock out if SA beat PAK and there are no other surprises.

Feel like I'm missing something here. Ireland should bowl first without even thinking about it, and their best chance of a result is if South Africa do something really stupid like aiming for 400.
Huh, good thing they didn't win the toss then.

All around fantastic day. Morne tried to get us and about 15 people kicked out for calling him Albie the whole time, then asked AB to field somewhere else. Asked Parnell how his free holiday was going and if he enjoyed his role as a specialist net bowler. Dale came down to our end and signed everything (phones, irish flags) and took selfirs on peoples phones haha. Poot Morne so angsty.

Now we're drinking with the Irish fans singing "heyyyyy Rilee Roussow, ooh, ahh, I wanna know if you'll be my girl".

210 isn't that bad a score for an Associate side against arguably the best team in the competition. It's just not very good chasing 411.

Mooney the only Irish bowler to look even vaguely threatening. Agree that if you took the Irish batting and either the Scottish or Afghanistani bowling you'd have a very solid team.

ouch, that's a bad pummeling. Brings down the Irish NRR in the same ball park as Pakistan.

It is still a testament to pakistan's pathetic NRR that Ireland still have a better one despite suffering a 200 + run loss

The associates can't be expected to consistently front up and compete with the big boys all the time, interested to see if they respond well though

Apparently a guy in my cricket team and a few of his mates were ripping into Imran Tahir, and Tahir tried to get them kicked out by claiming it was racist. Or something.

Is anyone else, dare I say it, actually enjoying Mark Nicholas' stint on commentary here? Nowhere near the usual level of false hype and is actually analysing the game a bit.
Nicholas has done minnows a few times this WC; he's been excellent every time. Makes sense that he'd be good with Ireland given he's a big follower of county cricket.

All of them were massive divas except Steyn. Which is weird because I was a thousand times worse when they played Aus there and they just laughed it off. Worried about the inevitable choke IMO.

Yeah cos if we'd batted first this one was 100% in the bag.

Not the performance we were looking for but good for the lower order to get some time in the middle, and it surely means McBrine will play every game from now on. Kev O'Brien needs to bowl a lot less, when we're getting 10 overs out of Stirling it shouldn't be necessary at all. I really miss Andre Botha.

The problem with this is that it adds up to 30 overs of spin minus however many KOB bowls, and that's assuming the openers bowl ten as well. They got through 30 overs of spin this time anyway which should've meant KOB bowling a lot less, but it won't always happen like that, and if Sorensen and/or Mooney is getting tanked at the death they're going to turn to someone else. An in form Cusack would help a lot, but his form has been terrible with bat and ball for a while now.

Sorenson has to go sadly, mental that they got rid of Young who done nothing wrong before this for him. Cusack would be the dullest choice ever.

Was hoping for bigger than 1/1 for Zimbabwe Saturday but doesn't look likely.:down:

Didn't like that Ireland bowled so many overs of spin in the first place in this game. They were fine in the death but through the middle they were easy to play. It is not easy to be an amazing spin bowler on these wickets. It's a whole different ball game.

Yeah it's much trickier to find the 50 overs than it used to be. But 7 overs with a lot of them at the death is just too much given how badly he's being tonked- I think the strategy needs a bit of a reshuffle. O'Brien could bowl at the end of the first powerplay and try to find some movement, with the spinners doing more of the work later on. I wouldn't mind seeing Sorensen make way for Young either.

I think in general we might see teams use spin at the death more often as the tournament goes on. The run-rates late on are so severe that there's just not a lot to lose at this stage.

He's awful at anything involving Australia. Otherwise he's excellent.
