The World Cup 15 is announced on Wednesday.

Think the squad will come from -

Batsmen

Amla
Faf
AB
Miller
Duminy
Behardien
Rossouw

Keepers

de Kock
van Wyk

All-rounders

Philander
McLaren
Parnell

Spinners

Phangiso
Tahir
Peterson

Seamers

Steyn
Morkel
Abbott
de Lange
Rabada
Tsotsobe

* Talk is that de Kock will go even if he misses the first bunch of games as too important in the game plan. So van Wyk won't be picked.
* Duminy is arguably in our top 3 50-over players now and we saw how we missed him in Australia. His offies are under-rated and is a genuine all-rounder.
* I would take one spinner. Not overly excited by those 3 to be honest
* The all-rounders are also very iffy picks. Philander still in between for me in 50-over cricket but McLaren & Parnell are far too erratic. That is why maybe taking Robbie P as an all-rounder and pure strike-bowlers is the way to go.
* Rossouw or Behardien could go or even both depending on balance of squad.

Perhaps first time since ages that RSA lower order is really WEAK.

None of the all-rounderst that Seam Up mentioned are actually fit to be in that category.

Duminy bowls as well so all pace attack + him?
Yeah this is what I'd roll with. I don't think they can play a specialist spinner if Duminy is the fifth bowler though unless they also play Behardien. Banking on twenty overs of spin with no part-time seam options is not a good option in Oceania. They could probably get away with if Behardien was the seventh batsman but his medium pace is pretty filthy really.

de Kock
Amla
de Villers
du Plessis
Rossouw
Duminy
Miller
McLaren
Philander
Steyn
Morkel

That's my team for a knockout stage. Can experiment with Behardien & Tahir in the side when they play the minnows.

Yeah our depth is he worst I've seen in ages. Anyone not in that team is pretty crap.

As are some of the blokes in it.

It'd be hilarious if this was the WC you won. Wouldn't surprise me much either as none of the teams really grab me.

By team I meant Panzee's team, ftr. Although I agree - McLaren should not be playing ODI cricket.

I'd more likely go Robbie P for McLaren and put Berhardien in for Rossouw for a bit of extra bowling. As cringy as it is putting Berhardien in.

How about picking Robbie P and asking him to bat at no.7? That seems to be the best bet imo.

Duminy
ABdV
Miller
Robin P

Well firstly it would have to be Philander at 8, not Steyn in that scenario.

Secondly, Peterson isn't good enough to bat at 7. I don't care for what the SA selectors of the past were smoking.

Considering the options are McLaren, Peterson and Abbott for no.7 slot (unless they pick Duminy as the 5th bowler with no more backup), I'd personally prefer to see Peterson at 7. McLaren hasn't established himself in the ODI side imo and although neither has Peterson, I see him as marginally better odi player than McLaren. I understand that Peterson isn't good enough to bat at 7 but thats the best bet Proteas have.

Dont really care how good Philander is with the bat in domestic or test cricket but his application at the crease with a bat in his hand has been nothing short of pathetic in ODIs. He comes out to bat like he is having a stroll in the park. I would like to see Steyn at 8. Although he is not as talented as Vern, Steyn tries to play according to the situation and comes in handy regularly.

The odd thing is that Tahir and McLaren did quite well for a period in our ODI side but I just can't get myself to say I want them to go at all.

Tahir in Aus

WACA - 10 1/54
WACA - 9 0/37
Canberra - 6 0/40

Robbie P in Aus

MCG - 8 1/44
SCG - 6.1 4/32

Philander > Steyn with the bat. That's just fact, there is no universe in which Steyn should bat above Philander.

Personally, as I say, I'd like to see Duminy as "7" (actually 6 and Miller at 7, but you get the gist of it). Berhardien would then have to bat at 5. I don't believe Rossouw will do enough to eclipse Berhardien that could warrant picking him and screwing up team balance.

So, essentially, my team would probably be

De Kock
Amla
Faf
AB
Berhardien
Duminy
Miller
Philander
Steyn
Morkel
Tahir/Some pacer.

I'm not sure about Tahir ahead of Peterson, If we played the specialist spinner and it was Peterson over Tahir, he'd obviously go to 8 and everyone else shifts one down.

No McLaren, Robbie P or Tsotsobe.

Don't think many thought de Lange or Rabada would make it even with extra pace.

So AB will be the keeper for the initial part of the tournament, would be interesting to see who will open the batting while DeKock recovers.
