Australia's squad

I would like to see Adam Voges or Cameron White come into the side if Clarke can't prove himself fit .. they'd add that experience. I also would have hoped Steve Smith or Brad Haddin would have been named as vice. To me, the selectors are now going to find it hard to drop Bailey if he's not in form due to his leadership position.

Eh, going by the way he's been hobbling in the last session I'd rather he be saved for tests from now on.

Why Doherty?

Also Harris should've been picked, though I won't complain about Cummins as he's not playing FC cricket anyway.

Yeah well I live in a world where Harris would have been rested on a flat pitch/dead rubber too
It's kind of weird how it's just accepted that Harris should play a dead rubber test on a road but not the World ****ing Cup. I mean, I know he hasn't played much ODI cricket in recent years (basically since 2011) but wasn't it his 2009/10 one day form that got him his first test gig? Would argue he is almost certainly one of Australia's best ODI seamers and the world cup is realistically three 50 over games. The idea that he can't cope with that kind of pisses me off.

the way harris has been bowling his yorkers in tests looked like he could've fitted back into the odi team easily

cant say i was expecting them to pick him though, it's still a strong squad regardless

You don't debut guys in a World Cup FFS.
Agree. Lyon has played ODIs though.

I would've gone Lyon I think. I may have leaned towards Doherty if I thought I had to play a specialist spinner in every game, but Lyon could just play if it suited.

Lyon's still far less proven than Doherty in ODIs, obviously. And I suspect the selectors see him as a Test specialist these days -- don't want to risk his Test game by trying to turn him into an ODI bowler too.

So if Clarke is fit, how would our best XI look? Do we even play Watson?
