ICC dream team

A select group of experts have chosen a dream team of players from this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup. The twelve man squad of all-stars were selected based on their individual performances in the tournament. Three players from champion India, four from runner up Sri Lanka, and one each from South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, and New Zealand were selected.

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara was selected to captain this elite group of extraordinary athletes. The selection group was comprised of; David Richardson (ICC General Manager – Cricket and former South Africa wicketkeeper), Anand Vasu (Deputy Editor of Sports Illustrated), Aleem Dar (Member of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Umpire of the Year 2009 and 2010), Ranjan Madugalle (ICC Chief Match Referee and former Sri Lanka captain), and Christopher Martin-Jenkins (journalist and broadcaster).
  1. Sachin Tendulkar (India)
  2. Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka)
  3. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka, WK and captain)
  4. Mahela Jayawardena (Sri Lanka)
  5. AB de Villiers (South Africa)
  6. Yuvraj Singh (India)
  7. Shane Watson (Australia)
  8. Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)
  9. Dale Steyn (South Africa)
  10. Zaheer Khan (India)
  11. Muttiah Muralidaran (Sri Lanka)
  12. Tim Southee as a 12th man (New Zealand).

Most notably absent from the all stars was India’s captain M.S. Dhoni, the man who hit Saturday’s legendary winning six to seal India’s victory? Of course so many are missing who might have been selected.

Watson, Steyn and Murali shouldn't be in this team. Trott, Gul and Tahir were much better in the tournament.

You can't just put Watson at 7. How stupid.

Steyn vs. Gul is pretty close, Steyn had a sexy WC averaging 16 and didn't have a poor high-profile game. He is one guy who certainly wasn't to blame for the SA debacle. And he proved he's not a mediocre ODI bowler at all.

Surprised to see Southee miss out on the XI.

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Watto very lucky to be there based on his performances, I'd have thought.
