Stats might not tell you everything but an average of 32-33 tells you he doesn't produce the goods enough.

Both he and Sangakkara should have much better records than they do.
You'll find that players in the class of Sanga and Jayawardene step it up when they need to. Tendulkar also. They just will themselves to get up on the big stage. Can't describe it, but a subjective judgment of a player is often the best measure.

Trying towork out if I want India to lose by one run, or be thoroughly humiliated.

Yeah, humiliated.

Has anyone mentioned yet - no one has ever scored a hundred in a world cup final and lost.

Edit: And Mahela has never scored a hundred and lost the match.

Think the powerplay has taken the game beyond India. It's going to require one of the greatest displays of ODI batting to get there.

Take a bow Mahela, what an innings. Also great assistance by Kula and Perrera (great six of the last ball).

It all looks set to be a great chase for India. Best of wishes for that and hope that they make this final a great one.

Zak got butchered just like Waqar in 96.

This is now where the real story of the final begins. The boy from Mumbai taking guard for perhaps the final time in an ODI, in a World Cup Final in Mumbai, with 99 career international hundreds to his name, versus the greatest wicket taker the international game has seen, playing in his final ever international match, who's scriptwriter has already seen him take his 800th Test wicket with his last ever delivery in Test cricket, bowling his side to victory in the process, and take a wicket with his final ever delivery in Sri Lanka.

Here's hoping these 2 absolute legends step up to the stage fate has delivered them and put in a great performance one last time.

If I was forced to pick one of them to put in a match winning performance, I'd go for Murali - purely because we've not yet seen the last of Sachin.

Very tough to chase this done.... Zaheer lost it in the last few overs... Once a bottler always a bottler.

Another really bad review by Sehwag. So unimpressed with how he goes for the review straight away.

But but but... It's the might Viru! He ALWAYS hits the first ball for four!

No edge IMO. GTFO please.

I'm not disagreeing with you - just saying that watching Mahela play like that it's hard to understand why he doesn't do it more often.
