Basic Instinct

Would be interesting to have a psychologist diagnose the psyche of people who delve into base instincts over something that is merely a game. What is it in the human mind and spirit that escalates a game into the highest echelons of their being ? Where Prime Ministers and Presidents shelve their crucial duties to pay homage to men hurling balls and whacking them about. Where doctors and surgeons consider the saving of a life secondary to showcasing sportsmen. Where athletes transcend all other disciplines and approach the dominion of divinity.

Is it the gladiatorial instinct or territorial or political or perhaps even moral. People are less concerned about watching a good contest and more consumed with winning, beating the arch-enemy, holding centre stage, being the best.

Why is there so much anxiety and tension ?
Why do you support your team so vigorously ?
Why are you so consumed about winning over all else ?
