Roach is not that special it's just that our bottler batsmen can make any bowler look good.
Every bowler must love bowling against us as we dont score many boundaries.
Sir, I've been watching West Indies cricket for years now. Roach is quite special. Trust that I'm not judging him on the basis of today's match.

I don't think you can count England out so fast. Even if they add another eighty runs here, it's game on. West Indies' batting is really thin. They have Pollard at five!
Yeah, AWTA. Swann should find this pitch to his liking, going by the commentary I'm reading, and Bishoo's figures.

Another positive and optimistic poster! This game is only just over a quarter of the way through, chill. We've had a bit of a wobble but there is time to put this right. I of course am generally over optimistic!

It doesn't matter how far the game has gone.. we have bottled it once again. every other nation can score boundaries but we dont think it's part of the game.. thats why we lose to fodder and thats why we are going home and thats why we are a laughing stock.. oh look another wicket from a specialist batsmen who never got a boundary

If someone up top can do what Smith did and waste half his spell then England are mighty close to ****ed. They don't have a in-full-flight Broad/Anderson attack to fall back on.

Atleast now some lucky airline won't be going to the British Isles on an empty plane.

BTW, if Yusuf Pathan's considered a hack around these parts, not sure what category Bopara falls into.

I don't care if he's Andy Flower and owns the reverse sweep. When your team is in trouble, you don't want to be getting out to premeditated shots. It was poor shot selection, no matter how well he plays it, because it wasn't the right ball to play it.
His innovation is part of what makes him such a good ODI batsman. You clearly don't like the timing of the shot, I just don't think he executed it particularly well on this occasion but have no problem with him playing it, as he is so good at it. Agree to disagree situation.

Six down! Russell gets his third. England have to bat out fifty overs. It doesn't matter even if they score four runs per over.

The thing is, if you don't have your best performers (strike-rate wise as well as runs) in domestic cricket playing for England your batting line-up isn't the best for the form. It really is that simple, our guys panic when the run-rate gets up, because they struggle to get the board moving naturally, then they get out.

it's not rocket-science, and most people on this board realize it.

Ho-hum.

Batsmen 3, 4 and 5 were all part of that 16 over spell.. Since when have only the first 5 batsmmen been allowed to score boundaries.? aren't we supposed to bat down to number 9/10 ?
?
They didn't need to because of the good start. Knocking around the ball would have done no harm. The need of the hour is to build a partnership right now. They got the batting power play. Boundaries will come. And its important not to aim big here. 220-230 should be a fighting total.

Lets wait for the " we're so tired " excuses.. It must be real hard work sitting on an aeroplane going from hotel to hotel and working one day in 6 or 7.. Bottlers end of.

Boundaries are not as big a worry as the constant loss of wickets! When you're trying to re-build an innings, boundary hitting takes on a secondary importance for a period. We've been woefully below par so far in this innings, and in the tournament as a whole, yet we can still turn it round, imo.

I rate Morgan very highly as an ODI batsman. I just can't see any argument for that being a reasonable mode of dismissal in the circumstances. It's akin to Gayle getting caught at long-off when 1 run-per-over is needed.

So agreed to disagree.

Thats the mentality as to why we are going home.. they,ve scored some runs so lets not bother to get an unbeatable target lets plod along..
