I've just woken up...why are spinners opening the bowling? Is it some ridiculous dusty pitch?
SA have done this from the start of the tournament. As it worked for them, England thought that it would work for Yardy too.

Colly's offcutters would have been useful but why choose Tredwell in the squad if you aren't going to pick him on a pitch like this?

I knew Smith would struggle badly against Swann. All a bit too late you feel, though.

Oh, and  at those overthrows from KP. True to his SA roots, he's actually a detriment to his team today.

Why indeed...

Might give Trott and/or Ravi an over here in lieu of a third spin option. &, obviously to call Yardy a spin option risks some kind of trades description infraction.

The thing is it doesn't really matter how well Swann bowls he isn't going to get 10 wickets as Yardy wouldn't be capable of any. Smith not doing too badly really, knows he will be done and just forgets it and plays next ball on its merits as all good players should.

I almost feel sorry for guys like Luke Wright and Tredwell

It's almost as if the selectors picked a core of players then decided that there were certain guys that wouldnt be picked under any circumstances and finally had to make up the numbers with what was left knowing full well that they'd never be given a real chance
