    I think Vettori went a bit too far there, you have umpires out there on the ground who check the ball on regular intervals to see if it has been tampered with and also not to forget that even if an umpire fails to notice anything wrong with the ball, these days its still pretty hard to tamper with the ball in front of all these cameras without getting noticed.

    Can't remember if this has been asked before, but how do they make the ball 34 overs old without it getting 34 overs of filth all over it? Nets?

    They use a sand papered white ball, which is filth IMO. Better to use two balls at each end, and best exponents of reverse swing will get it swinging in 40 - 50 over time (which means each ball is 20 - 25 overs old). It will give extra bit of seam movement and will allow to re-establish tha balance between bat and ball in ODIs, which are becoming a run-orgy.
