SA provision squad

Preliminary squad: Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, Alviro Peterson, Loots Bosman, Jacques Rudolph, Morne van Wyk, Jonathan Vandiar, JP Duminy, David Miller, Colin Ingram, Albie Morkel, Robin Peterson, Mark Boucher, Thami Tsolekile, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Heino Kuhn, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Wayne Parnell, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Johan Botha, Ryan McLaren, Charl Langeveldt, Rusty Theron, Ethy Mbhalati, Roelef van der Merwe, Johan van der Wath

First impressions are that SA don't seem to have much in the way of bowling prospects.

None of the backup seamers to Steyn and Morkel strike strike me as particularly promising.
Mbhalati and Tstotsobe are pretty average. Langeveldt is past it IMO .Parnell still feeling his way back from injury.
Needless to say, the spinners are pretty poor.

Reckon Tahir should be looked at by the SA selectors now that he is available.

Can't see SA winning it. THe lack of all round bowling strength, the fact that it is in the subcontinent and the fact there are three knockout games in a row doesn't bode well for their prospects.

Morkel could struggle on subcontinental wickets. Steyn will have to bowl much better than he has done in ODIs so far for them to have a chance, but the man is so good that I wouldn't put it past him.

SA have a very good bowling attack if they trust their bowlers and play four front-line seamers (Steyn, M Morkel, Theron, Lopsy/Parnell).

If they try to back up the batting and end up playing van de Merwe or Albi Morkel they could have some real problems.
