Final selection of the squad due tomorrow or day after.

I would say about 12 are certainties and there are 3 spots still up for contention.

Can somebody keep wickets if Dhoni is injured in that squad?

Srilanka have not picked any backup keeper ,though they have Dilshan who can keep wickets.

I would rather pick a batsmen who can keep wickets as backup ,rather than a Karthik and Saha which would also allow in turn to pick a extra back up quick with Zaheer's fitness in question.

Too many poor fielders are in the running for the squad. Look at this Nehra-Praveen-Munaf combination, as against Vinay-Pankaj-Ishant, and while the latter combination may be unproven or have a higher economy (because of Ishant, but Nehra and Munaf are not far better), they are better fielders and also reasonably useful all round. The Indians can do with some highly productive fielders such as Kohli and Raina, and not Munaf. These strugglers weigh down the whole fielding unit, and make it a lot easier for batting sides.

The decision not to play Yusuf Pathan in South Africa may just hamper their preparations for the World Cup. Inside of the subcontinent, he is a crucial player, and not one they can afford to ignore.

    Chawla?

Out of a Wicketkeeper, a Fast Bowler(including Zaheer,Nehra and Munaf and their fragile fitness) , a Batsman (Sehwag,Sachin and Gambhir injured atm) and a Spinner ,we pick a the one who is least likely to be injured in a spinner.

    WTF?

Why do we need 3 spinners when we have a bunch of part timers who can bowl spin too.

And have got a bunch of faster bowlers who are injury prone and no one who keeps wickets or has kept wicket in the past in the international matches as back up to Dhoni.

This could really come back to bite us.

And Kris Srikkanth's explanation "We need to be positive ,and hope for no injuries. We should not be thinking about injuries before the World Cup. Why do you want to think about injuries?"

    WTF?

Really worried about this. Uthappa or Karthik should have been picked IMO. Who will take the gloves if Dhoni gets injured.. Raina?

Probably, but then we need his Bowling too Certainly.

Kohli,Gambhir would probably be the other options.

I don't think anyone in the squad has kept even at First class level though.

So Dhoni will have to play on unless he gets a big injury.

Does he not understand the point of picking 15 man squads?

Picking a 15 man squad keeping injuries in mind is a lot more positive, IMO, than picking a 15 man squad thinking you'll want to drop four players throughout the tournament...
