If both sides want the game to end, but the umpires don't, why don't Sri Lanka leave the ball then wonder into the middle of the pitch?

How can it be stupid if they're following the rules. The rules may be stupid then but I certainly can't blame the umpires.

Now officially the strangest thing in sports I've ever seen.

As an upside, I haven't officially lost the bet yet.

Fittingly turd ending to a disappointing tournament, sad to say.

Well, congratulations Australia.

No matter how farcical this end is, you've deserved to win this World Cup, as you played the best cricket. Well done.
