Most of the guys who were missing in that series who are there now are batsmen though, and the batting performed very well in that series apart from the first game.
This in itself is a cause for concern. NZ conceded far too many runs to a batting lineup that was missing Ponting, Gilchrist, Clarke and Symonds.

They had those players in the CB series, and only reached similar heights once. Nearly lost that game too.
