Ussually teams like to be at thier best, have a winning momentum and a full strength side before a world cup begins. However this time around most teams are desperate to get a full strength 11, forget about 15, some teams have thier key players joining the team after one round is over. Players are thinking about cutting off their body parts to get rid of injuries.....what not

But which team has had the worst road to the biggest tournament in cricket this year?

But it's just 2 games.

Most of the rest of the last 3 years has been utterly wretched.

giving the champs their first defeat in a finals in 13 years is not bad
Doesn't matter about that, after all winning games in a best of 7 series at a fag-end of a tour with a largely different team 2-3 years ago is the sort of thing matters come a World Cup - especially when there's absolute no pressure and meaning in a World Cup, obviously. Beating the best team in the World in a pressure situation... just meaningless really, that's why every other team does it every other week...

Someone had to do it eventually.

This one's overrating of England's ODI team just because they happen to have beaten Australia once of late and once 2 years ago beggars belief.

The most obvious case is that of Pakistan.

1. Two best bowlers out of the tournament with "injury".
2. One of the most potent ballstrikers in the game out with injury.
3. Convincing series loss to South Africa, admittedly a very hard opponent.

Australia too have issues, but you can't erase years of dominant form so easily.
The West Indies results-wise have had a poor immediate buildup, but have looked competitive for the most part - something that couldn't be said of the team a year or so ago.

Hard to say which team has had the most troubled road to the tournament, but I think it's safe to say that South Africa have had the most impressive immediate buildup.

If you class road to the World Cup as last three weeks it would have to be Australia imo - losing Lee and having Symonds in doubt, Gilchrist missing for the opening of the tournament and five consecutive defeats. Pakistan a close runner-up.

If the road was a tad longer, would have to give England the vote.

Has to be Pakistan - badly beaten by SA and definately without three top players (at least the likes of England and Australia's crocks might come back at some time). Time to find the "cornered tiger" spirit I reckon...

Pakistans is self inflicted for the most part.

We've had an absolutely shocking run with injury, utterly ridiculous.

Without doubt it would be Pakistan, their world cup aspirations are as good as over even before the tournament has begun.

What, so it's the fault of the Pakistan team management that players have been injured by the dozen and still have traces of illegal substances ingested months ago in their bodies?

Don't see how.

If road is the time since the last World Cup, then it's England.

If you're talking, say, the last 3 months, I'd also go with Pakistan
