Englands wicketkeepers

Noooooooo!!!!!! Please, even Geraint Jones would be a better bet.
As I said, I've only seen him once or twice. Given England felt he was good enough to make the side as a specialist batsman at one stage though, and the fact that his keeping didn't look awful in the one performance I saw, I'd give him a go.

That's the key - they thought. They thought Kabir Ali and Tim Bresnan were good enough to play as specialist bowlers, too. Prior should never, ever have got anywhere near the ODI side and was a typical "he's a big-hitter" selection, picked because of a few isolated good performances, instead of the ability to actually do the job, just because when the good performance comes it's spectacular.

As for his 'keeping, no, it's not awful - neither is Geraint Jones'.

Is there really a point of doing so? I mean forget about the fact that he isnt good enough, but recalling him would not only defeat the purpose of dropping him in the first place(much like the last time) but really why would anyone not want to stick with chris read? He maybe the best of a very poor lot but hes certainly at least capable of hitting the ball in the unorthodox field positions but hes also capable of hitting the ball a long way. And his keeping isnt too bad either.

Andy Flower?

It'll be 4 years since he's played an international game for Zimbabwe on March 15th.

Make that after.

Spot the Australian.
haha, well it's easy to spot the Pom - he's the one talking a lot and NOT performing.

If Nixon is still a part of (and thus a reflection of) your team's selection policy then I suggest they give their tickets for flights to the World Cup to a more worthy cause. Why he was selected in the first place is a mystery, and to suggest simply because he's there he should be persisted with is farcical.God forbid someone else should be selected and upset the fine balance the English team has achieved so far this summer.

I assure you, replacing Nixon with someone else will not raise our chances at the World Cup, at all.

Defiently Nixon asfter his gritty 49 at the waca proved he can hit a ball and he doesnt need to reverse sweep al;l the time

Thanks to about 3 dropped catches... honestly, it's as if New Zealand were trying to make him look even worse than he already was...

Probably not, but it won't make them worse. What purpose does the man serve? He can't bat, seems to share some aspects of Jones' game with the gloves, and is 36. At least with someone in there who is going to be a bit more of a long term prospect it might seem like england is actually attempting to do something. Unless, of course, the situation is that there are absolutely no wicketkeepers of any ability at all available the length and breadth of the country.

What does the long-term matter when there's a World Cup around the corner?

And no - there aren't a whole lot better than Nixon up and down the country. He can bat, even if he's done a pretty good impression of not being able to thus far. There's Read, obviously, who for whatever reason is not trusted. Jones is certainly a worse one-day batsman than Nixon; and most of the rest average 20 or less.

The one man who might one day be worth a bit more light is Steven Davies, but
1) he's currently no one-day batsman whatsoever and to put him in now would serve less than it would damage
2) we thought that once about Jones in the Tests, so you'll forgive me for being a bit more cautious this time

I dunno i think id go with one of Read or Prior, but outside of those 2 i liked the look of James Foster a couple of seasons ago not sure how he has been going recently but he may be a possibility??

Here's one, get Simon Guy, he'd may be the best of the lot, lol...

Or maybe use Cook to do the keeping
