no real shocks left out, most have a decent chance of making it if they put in great performances before the WC, some like Harwood, Birt, McDonald, Marsh, North etc... will really need something special but its not impossible they could make it...

Not sure about the 15, but the following 13 will most likely be in the squad

Ricky Ponting TAS 32
Adam Gilchrist WA 35
Andrew Symonds QLD 31
Brett Lee NSW 30
Glenn McGrath NSW 36
Michael Hussey WA 31
Michael Clarke NSW 25
Brad Hogg WA 35
Shane Watson QLD 25
Brad Haddin NSW 29
Phil Jaques NSW 27
Nathan Bracken NSW 29
Mitchell Johnson QLD 25

No idea about the other two. Only question mark might be Haddin, but a backup keeper would be nice and he's a good OD batsman now anyway. The other two spots will be decided in the coming CB series or domestic form.

How can you not take Bracken?

He took the second most wickets in international cricket behind Masrafe Mortaza, and with a higher strike rate and a better average. Bracken should replace Voges or Hopes in that squad.

That's right IMO, except that White will be in there for someone. Presumably it'll be either Haddin or Jaques.

Does he deserve a place? Haddin and Jaques serve as cover for Gilchrist and Hayden, respectively. Correct me if I'm wrong but White is a leg-spinning, batting all-rounder.
The squad already has cover for the seamers (another seamer), Hogg (another seamer) and the middle-order batsmen (Jaques). I suppose White would be cover for Watson then.

In other words, Bracken was the top wicket-taker in terms of proper, ODI-standard, teams.

The answer, then, is "yes", no need for the 8-)

I do remember the 2001 instance now, mind.
