Lawson isn't in the provisional list so presumably won't figure though - like you - I'd much prefer to see him or Pedro "Wasim" Collins than Edwards or Emrit. As I think you've mentioned in one of the threads, it seems very strange that Emrit has been given a shot ahoead of someone like Kelly. I'd definitely have Dwayne Smith for his bowling, fielding and potential late order slogging (in that order), but not sure Devon's done quite enough. He's specialized in making starts and not going on throughout his international, list a and - latterly - first class career and may only sneak in by dint of the lack of alternatives. Morton, I think, must have batted his way out of contention, but what about Deonarine as more of a batting all-rounder? On the bowling side Sammy was very unlucky not to get the chance to stake his claim in India. I wonder if they'll gamble on him now. Powell will probably get the nod, particularly if they're not prepared to look outside the 30, but I'd then stick to 4 specialist seamers, supplemented by Smith and Sammy, rather than going for another 1-dimensional and erratic performer in Edwards. That would also leave room for Mohammed (though it appears the selectors are still reluctant to pick a specialist spinner) in the following squad: BC Lara (c) RR Sarwan (vc) D Ramdin (wk) S Chanderpaul DJJ Bravo MN Samuels KA Pollard CH Gayle N Deonarine D Sammy JE Taylor CD Collymore IDR Bradshaw D Mohammed DB Powell Liam Sebastien is another spin bowling all-rounder who appears to be performing well in a poor side. I seem to remember he came into the senior game with a hot reputation. Seen anything of him MR M? |

He only scored 14 and 33 IIRC in India, but he looked so good doing so, then was run out and got a good ball. I'd trust him to score runs ahead of Morton these days. I'd also say he's done more than flattered to deceive in FC cricket, seeing as his average is nigh on 40 - unheard of almost by WI batsmen - and he has 12 hundreds and 27 fifties in 75 games, which is pretty good for a West Indian also. Keep in mind too that he plays in a team whose second-best batsman is Junior Murray.
Not sure the West Indies would take that kind of risk, and I'm not sure they'd want another batting spinner, as they have Gayle and Samuels in there already. Quote:

He's a useful bat, but there are many who are better. And I don't rate his bowling as anything special. I rate Samuels' bowling much higher.

This is the worst squad ever picked of all time...ever. You've lost the privilege of me trusting any of your opinions ever. |

but that is my personal feeling. I like Ricardo Powell, so I was hoping he would return back, not necessiry that these people will be selected. But I would like to see them play for WI. |

And it's inexcusable to exclude Sarwan, Taylor and Bravo in a West Indies WC squad. |
