This is what I think they should go in with for the first match, assuming everyone is fit.

When Afridi is able to play he should come in for Hafeez, but instead Malik should open and Afridi should play down the order after Akmal. This team should give us the best chance to beat the West Indies, but in forming this team I couldn't help but feel that it could have been so much better were it not for the threefold menace of drugs, injury, and selectorial stupidity. This team's most glaring weakness is its opening combination. Yasir Hameed should have been selected, but at least with this team we know from the get-go that we're only playing with 8 wickets in hand. 3-6 will have to score a large majority of the runs, but its good to see that even without Afridi and Razzaq we have a hard hitting lower order that should be able to bat till 8 or 9. Our bowling looks very vulnerable, and guys like Naved and Sami are going to have to bring their A game if we are to stand a chance. Umar Gul is the wild card.

I would like to see Azhar in the team in place of rana - afridi can come in for kaneria when he returns from suspension. Assides from that, Nazir needs to be dropped....one good slog does not a player make.

any idea who to replace imran nazir with. the team has all allrounders who are out of form. not any spacialist batsman.

Let me tell u one thing and please remember that......it DOES NOT matter who comes in place of who right now.....the problem isnt our bowling and u can even say our batsman, its about our captain........pakistan wont win a SINGLE match after the pool stages (if they get there) if they continue with the same batting line-up. Our amazing captain should realize what his role should be by now....if he cant then NO ONE should expect any better than todays performance.

Well realistically speaking, those two will never open in the world cup, i did say before the world cup that younis should open the batting with nazir.....with inzamam coming one-down.....then i dont care a sh*t whoever comes in TBH.

Malik should definately open , but i'm not too sure about Younis, he has performed better lower down the order in onedayers, and the way he got out today trying to play a pull shot was school-boyish and i wonder if he should still be tried as opener.

Afridi obviously will obviously be a hit-n-miss player, he will be a big risk as an opener, but is still a safer bet than CRAP imran Nazir.I would say that Pakistan should go for Afridi and Malik.

In the comming two weaker matches against Zim and Ireland, Pak should try Younis, Malik and Afridi as openers.No experiments after that.

Completely agreed. I think Inzamam is not only crazy but also a coward.Every former test player have told him that he should bat up the order, and he did confirm before the cup that he will bat at number four, yet today he came at 5 slot!!

Both Inzi and BOb are responsible for the opening mess, Pakistan always had a problem with openers, but the current batch is probably the worst in years.Butt and Hameed were much better than current lot yet Inzi and BOb opted for clown Nazir.

If Pakistan plays poorly in super eight stage (most likely) then i think heads will roll.I see the end of both Bob and Inzi after then WC.

Some bowlers also didn't do well today, and Pakistan have replacement, so its best to drop out of form Naveed for Azhar or Arafat.

As for Batsman, yes they need to be dropped, but unfortunately Pakistan don't have a replacement opener in the Squad.

I don't rate him one bit but he is a replacement opener.

No he is not in Squad, they only have Afridi in the Squad but he's serving a 2 match ban.
