World Cup Ladders

Hazza

U19 Cricketer
Hi all. :)

As I'm sure you are all aware, the World Cup will be upon us reasonably soon, and, in the run-up to the event, I'd like to be able to construct a 'World Cup Ladder' for each international team.

I'm sure some of you are un-clear of what World Cup Ladders are, so, here's a quick summary:

Basically, 40 players are chosen and put in order of their place in the international running in the lead-up to the World Cup, and this list is reviewed as new, slightly more obscure, players come into the international scene throughout the build-up.

Examples of the ladders can be found here:

http://www.football365.com/features/f365_features/story_175225.shtml

So, please feel free to post your own ideas for international ladders here- I'll be interested to see some of you guys' thoughts on the line-ups for the tournament.

Sounds good, I'm sure someone is moving this to the World Cup section as I type. I'd struggle to do beyond 20 tho so I'll leave it to someone else who follows England 'A' and the academy lot.

I find it hard to keep in injured players like Butler and Tuffey (badly injured), but I guess the idea is that they work up and down the ladder. I think ol' Gillespie could be a bit higher. Especially after his good first class season. However, if this is an ODI ladder, those CD bowlers are quite hard to go past. Maybe also have Diamanti in the mix? Otherwise, not a bad top 20 especially.

Nick Knight's retired from ODI cricket. Adam Hollioake's retired from all cricket. There's also a few other selections in there which I'd not agree with - you'll see when my completed England ladder is up on the frontpage in a few weeks. :)

The problem here was that I was happy with the top ten, then it all got very "okay, I could put this guy anywhere between 24 and 38" - and I found about 30 who fitted that description. I don't see anyone outside that 50 making my final 40.

Still not pleased with stupid Liam giving me stupid Pakistan.

If Luke Wright or James Tredwell get anywhere near the World Cup we could well lose to Zimbabwe or Kenya...
I find it hard to believe Afzaal and Ealham are so far down the list, below rubbish like Mahmood, Plunkett, Harrison, Sidebottom, etc.
I also can't see Hoggard getting anywhere near ODIs again and quite rightly.
That Collingwood, Vaughan and Strauss are so high up says it all, really. :(

I simply don't see what the point in picking as many as 40 is... as demonstrated by the fact that the like of Harrison, Wright, Tredwell, etc. are in an England one.
Even 30 would be pushing it - 25 would be a better number.
