Namibia v Netherlands

Bazza

International 12th Man
What an incredible match between these two minnows. Not like anything else in this world cup, with pool B containing Kenya, who are clearly stronger than the three ICC Trophy qualifiers.

Holland batted first and racked up 314-4, the second highest score of the tournament (Zimbabwe got 340-2 against Namibia in their first game). Kloppenburg got 121 off 142, the first century for Holland in ODIs. And wihin 28 minutes he was joined by van Noortwijk, who went on to score 134* off 129. Nobody else made any runs really but they didn't need to after these two added 228 for the second wicket at nearly a run a ball! Holland had never passed 250 before, let alone 300!

Namibia got off to a flyer, the openers adding 76. Both fell in quick succession for 41, but Namibia stayed in the hunt with Keulder and Murgatroyd both scoring 52, adding 92 for the 3rd wicket. Holland got a few wickets though and as the RR climbed, it eventually became too much.

Great effort from both sides and looks to have been a very entertaining game. Adeel Raja returned 4-42, as did Kloppenburg, who must be MOTM in the performance of his life.

All this after Holland lost inspirational captain Roland Lefebvre before the game due to a leg injury sustained in the last match!

van Noortwijk has now played 9 ODIs. He has 322 runs at 46! His SR is 75%!!
