    Pakistan vs India

Aiite, here's the one I have been waiting for quite some time. 1st of March at Centurion. Its an important match for Pakistan, a must win and I think India will try their best to halt the progression of the Pakistani's to the next round. Should be the best game of the tournament if both sides decide to play their best cricket.

Contests which will catch the eye

    Sachin/Sehwag/Ganguly vs Wasim/Shoaib/Waqar

If Pakistan bat first it will be a tough job for India to down Pakistan, if however Pakistan bat second, India have their best chance to pull of a victory. Further batting second against Pakistan will be tougher then in the first innings, if India bat first and post a good enough total Pakistan will be stretched to the limit chasing. With Nehra, Zaheer and Srinath in good form its a good match up. Lets see what tomorrow holds for us...I reckon we'll beatya ! :P

Just seen the weather, they have had a right afternoon downpour, and some filthy weather is coming for Mozambique for tomorow.

But the Centurion pitch is extremely quick draining so it should be an awesome match.

for me it is Indias batting against Pakistans bowling. I think India will snick through

No I dont think so Broncoman. The thing with Pakistan is, they always save their explosive best for India, and we all know how inconsistent but brilliant Pakistan are. On the other hand, India would be chomping at the bit to face off against Pakistan, and win the battle.

    All very interesting.

One question, do you guys think that Mongia should play for India?? He's more of a liability in my opinion, but then who is going to replace him?

Dinesh Mongia isn't bad, but isn't exceptionally good either. Possible replacements in my mind:

    Sridharan Sriram
    Hemang Badani
Hrishikesh Kanitkar (has had a superb two seasons and adds bowling depth as well)
Ajay Jadeja (after his match fixing charges were cleared)
Ambati Rayadu (This guy can play!)
Gautam Gambhir (great potential and promise)
    Reetinder Sodhi (another bowling option)
    VVS Laxman (enough said)
Sanjay Bangar (handy bat, and another bowling option)
J.P.Yadav (potential all rounder for the future)
    Parthiv Patel (a specialist wicketkeeper)

What? The USA are covering the cricket?

You mean you're not going to be watching the skateboarding or 1950s reruns of the Lucy Show?

One thing which is puzzling me of late, what is it with Ganguly allways using Mongia's bowling? He's a part-timer at best and Sachin has proven himself a useful bowling option in ODIs, he's got over 100 wickets too! He's usually just left on the boundary too. If I had a former captain who can bowl a bit I wouldn't stick him on the fence and ignore him...

    I'd go with Rayudu.

That's probably hugely biased as the only ones out of that lot I've seen to much an extent are Laxman, Patel, Bangar and Rayudu.

Laxman I don't think is suited to ODIs much, Sanjay doesn't seem to fire consistently enough, and while India continue with 7 batsmen Patel isn't really that superior with the gloves than Dravid to merit it (though personally I think it should be that the best keeper is pretty much an automatic pick) above Rayudu - who I'm only judging off multiple big 100s against England U19 last summer, mind.

    Where is everyone?

Isn't your PC in the same room as your telly?

Well, IMO a splendid knock by Saeed Anwar to set the scene, some significant contributions all the way down and a challenging (if not daunting) target.

An electrifying reply from Sachin Tendulkar (one of his finest), great performance from Yuvraj, solid from Rahul Dravid.

As far as the bowling performances, let's just say it was a day for the batsmen.

    A lifeline for England, perhaps?

Great Performance by India. And sachin has done it again. He has done it to Shoiab also . Eddie most of them will be celebrating now as it was a very hyped match. You got to hand it to Yuvraj he plays so well in pressure situations. And also Kaif played very well and so to the master blaster. He played one of the best you will see. Now please England, you need to do to qualify. Also if Kenya qualifies then we are almost through to the semis . Also Dravid is performing very well when he is keeping and also today the value of Dravid keeping was visible b'coz if Yuvraj or Dravid had been out then the next batsman would have been Patel. The team is peaking at the right time

    Congratulations!!!!

What a wonderful performance by India, they completely destroyed the Pakistani bowling line up. Hats off to Sachin Tendulkar,Yuvraj and other batsmen. I believe that the team is peaking at the right time and i think India is almost assured of a semi place now that Kenya has qualified for the SS.

There is also a possibility that Zimb might beat a disheartened Pakistani team and as such India will go with 4 points in SS!!!

Now India gotta be the contenders for the championship , i just hope they give their best shot and play with the same spirit they played today!
