*Official* Pepsi Asian Series

Pakistan Earn Revenge

Pakistan v India

Played at Chittagong

Pakistan started off a new era after there poor World Cup Showing when they smashed India in Chittagong.Khan and Patel started off rather well before Yousef took over the game with a compact 78 he was joined by Afridi and Salman who compiled solid scores before both threw their valuable wickets away. Pathan and Harbhajan Singh were the main destroyers both picking up 3 a peice.

India started off terribly and honestly were never in the race, Ganguly played a lone hand in a stubborn innings to continue on his exciting form since he has come back into the squad,Powar showed some guts but it was too little too late in a disappointing performance for India. Asif and Razzaq were the main destroyers both picking up 3 measly wickets in World-Class displays. Overall this Indian sides need to perform better to have any chance of winning this series.

Pakistan won by 95 runs.

Pakistan 10/240
M Yousef 78, M Salman 39,I Pathan 3/54, H Singh 3/46

India 10/145
S Ganguly 48,M Asif 3/31, A Razzaq 3/39

Sri Lanka win in a tight one!

Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka

Played in Chittagong

A captain's knock of 66 from Bashar and many contributions around him ensured Bangladesh set a decent total for Powerhouse Sri Lanka to chase. Nafees and Hasan stood tall in playing solid and reliable innings while Bashar showed why he is the "Bradman of Bangladesh Cricket" with a very compact 66. Muralitharan was the early destroyer picking up Ahmed and Iqbal. This resulted in some steady middle order batting before Ashraful showed his talent to smash 30 runs off 15 balls. 232 was not too bad on this pitch.

Sri Lanka started there chase with some rather good strokeplay from Tharnaga and Jayasuriya, Jayasuriya fell with the score on 72 this provided a mini-collapse losing Sangakkara,Jayawardene and Silva. Arnold looked tentative early on but soo enough got into his stroke play. 4.4 runs per over needed at the end of the 45th over was going to need some cool heads and finally Arnold came through.Spinner Razzak was the best Bangladeshi bowler picking up two wickets.

Bangladesh 8/232
Bashar 66,Hasan 38,Ashraful 30,Fernando 3/51

Sri Lanka 6/234
Tharanga 73,Arnold 70,Jayasuriya 36,Razzak 2/42

Sri Lanka won by 4 wickets.

Man of the Match : Russel Arnold

Aftab batting too high for my liking, he should be at #6 with both Saqibul and Ashraful moving up a position in the batting order. Lucky for Sri Lanka that Arnold was able to pick up the pace at the end of the innings, Tharanga was a bit slow at the top.

Gripping Encounter comes down to final over!

India versus Sri Lanka

Played in Dhaka

Ganguly and Sehwag strode to the crease both looking focused and intent on the job at hand, but soon after Sehwag lost his middle stump to Vaas from an off-cutter. Dravid was brought to the crease as they went about building a solid total to defend. Dravid was trapped LBW by improving Fernando and Ganguly stumped by Sangakkara of the bowling of Muralitharan. Tendulkar and Kaif batted for a touch over half an hour before both became Muralitharan's 2nd and 3rd scalps. Yuvraj joined them at 6/121 there was certainly work needed. Stylish keeper Dhoni played a patient "out of character" innings. While Harbhajan stroked his way to a solid 36 off 43 deliveries. Muralitharan spell yielded 5/32 off 10 deadly overs.

Jayasuriya and Tharanga looked to be playing Sri Lanka into an unstoppable position before both disappeared joined on the way by Sangakkara. This all happening while Jayawardene built a very tidy innings with support from Silva, the partnership resulted in a nervous victory at the end of the 48th over after Patel was dispatched to the boundary to go alongside a few singles. India had 5 bowlers pick up one wicket a peice.

India 7/212 (50 Overs)
M.S.Dhoni 43, S.C.Ganguly 42,H.Singh 36,M.Muralitharan 5/32

Sri Lanka 5/213 (49 Overs)
D.P.M.D.S.Jayawardene 71,W.U.Tharanga 53

Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets.

Man of the Match : M.Muralitharan

Bangla Test!

As Bangladesh gained support from the Fatullah crowd Pakistan mounted an even challenge worthy of a place with the World's Elite. Were stars like Ashraful, Bashar, Akhtar and Afridi going to shine? Was it going to left up to the Stars or would a youngster step into the breach and announce himself? It's time for both teams to deliver!

Pakistan and Sri Lanka meet in a crucial game that will separate the teams at the top of the Pepsi Asian Series standings. Both teams are unbeaten in the tournament with 2 wins apiece, but Pakistan holds the top spot with a superior run rate. They look to make that lead more prominent with a win in Bogra.

India and Bangladesh play for pride

Despite their lack of victories, Bangladesh were confident heading into their dead clash with India. Neither team has qualified for the tournament final, having lost their opening games, but both will look to take confidence into the Champions Trophy with the merit of a victory.
