Night of Nights

State Vice-Captain
The Yorkshire Phoenix had their night of nights last night with all players and coaches turning out for the teams fairest and best player of the year. Captain W.Tendulkar was early favourite but eyes were on in form S.Weir.
Manager Jason Pike again turned up in his limo with Britney Spears who was later seen looking to get married(but didnt).

The night started with rookie of the year. This was very close but S.Weir took this out in fight with O.Crowe who was the bowler of Div 1 One Day Comp.

Batsmen of the year went to S.Weir for his outstanding year with the bat.

Bowler of the year went to O.Crowe. Who also took out allrounder of the year.

This only left the fairest and best player.
This went to S.Weir for an outstanding year and will easily be a find for the club and the england all star team.

After this was announced the after party was at Jason Pikes house with a live performance from The Vines who blew the house down.
An enjoyable night was had by all.

Congratulations to a team who came runners up to South Australia in One Day Div 1 and 3rd to Soth Australia and Karnakata in Four Day Div 1.

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Following the Yorkshire Pheonix best and fairest night the Guyana Cricket Board held their annual Awards night on April 21. It was the last time the players from season 4 would meet as traded players and those not announced in the season 5 squad will have to leave the West Indies on Monday, April 25.

The Red Carpet event was a spectacular night with all players and friends having a great time. Manager Kyle Wright turned up, appearing to have already induldged in some pre-event drinks. The night started with the manager's address.

"I am proud of the effort the players have displayed this season, although we did not win a game in the four day format and losing outright twice to Free State is hard to take, our one day performances were quite encouraging. We were a chance of promotion until we ran into a red-hot Mashonaland in round 9. Everyone have a good night and enjoy the off-season as their is plenty of work to do for season 5."

The first award of the night was for rookie of the year. It was a close contest between Younis Cole and Yogi Hills. Cole was outstanding as a bowling allrounder in the four day game and his batting in the one day game was superb. Hills was an excitment machine opening the batting in the one day game. It was Cole's allround abilities that won him rookie of the year.

The next award was for One Day player of the year. The two nominated candidates were Ramnaresh Sarwan and Yogi Hills. Sarwan won this award due to his improved bowling in season 4. Although he did have an unimpressive season with the bat, scores of 95 and 78 were enough to ensure he walked away with one day player of the year.

The second last award of the night was for Four Day player of the year. This was a close contest between Younis Cole and captain Neil McKenzie. Cole was outstanding with the ball taking more than 40 wickets, however it was the consistency that McKenzie showed with the bat that won him the award. McKenzie was the glue that held together the fragile Guyana batting and a high score of 160 was the highlight of the season.

The last award of the night was for players' player. Many players were considered for this award, but Akash Chopra was the standout winner. Although the first draft pick had a disapointing season and has been traded, he was a team player and gave great assistance to captain Neil McKenzie in shaping this young team into improved performers.

The full award list:

Season 4 Rookie of the year: Younis Cole
Season 4 One Day player of the year: Ramnaresh Sarwan
Season 4 Four Day player of the year: Neil McKenzie
Season 4 Player of the year: Akash Chopra
Season 4 Fans' award: Younis Cole
Season 4 Manager's award: Yogi Hills

Warwickshire had their night of nights at the Birmingham Convention centre. Has always a host of celebrities showed up. Kurt Christensen was there, as usual Charlotte Church was by his side.

Firstly the Division Three One Day Trophy was unvieled. A trophy at last. It wasn't what the club had bargained on winning, but by god, it was a trophy none the less!

Rookie of the year was the first award of the night. Tyrone Rowell being the only rookie in the side collected the honour, but he had earnt it. Following in the footsteps of Gavin Lawson and Daniel Howarth is seemed very pleased to be picking up the award.

Next came the one day awards. Paul Hitckcock took the bowler award. He led the way in all of WCC this season with 25 wickets. Owen Hemp picked up best batsmen, while Hitchcock backed up with the one day player of the season.

Into the four day award. Four Day captain Sridahran Sriram picked up the batsmen of the season just edging Daniel Howarth. Kevin Dean took home the bowler award for his 57 wicket haul. He added the four day player of the season to his haul.

Finally the big award, player of the season. Here is the final points tally:

1. Kevin Dean - 310
2. Danish Kaneria - 300
3. Ben Gregson - 283
4. Sridharan Sriram - 250
5. Daniel Howarth - 234
6. Nathan Astle - 212
7. Trevor Rowell – 210
8. Paul Hitchcock - 180
9. Owen Hemp - 153
10. Zac McDonald - 131
11. Muhammad Hasnain - 100
12. Adam Dale - 78
13. Michael Clarke – 77

Slats4ever

International Vice-Captain
The Innaugral Western Province Breakfast has been held at MacDonalds for the 2nd straight year, where all players, past greats, managers and guests were treated to big breakfasts.

Slats4ever turned up with new girlfriend Amy McKibbin on one arm with Kirsten Dunst just minutes behind saying "where did my last years partner go, who is this new girl?"

She was later taken out the back by captain Samaraweera never to return.

The first address was by manager Slats4ever. "This has been a great year for the club. Finally we have been able to meet out potential in the four day game and I can only see us going from strength to strength. Congratulations to all involved but seriously... let's get onto the awards"

The first award of the night was for rookie of the year (previous winner - F Rickman)
This years winner was Bishop Matthie. A tremendous year. For the first half of the 4 day season he really led the way with the ball.

The next award was the One Day player of the year (previous winner - R Llewellyn)
This years winner was once again Rabbi Llewellyn. In a poor OD year for the club, Rabbi was the only bloke able to constantly come up with results.

The next award was for the Four Day Player of the year (previous winner - R Llewellyn)
This years winner was Thilan Samaraweera. The captain played with class with both bat and ball all year, and next year will be an absolutely crucial link in the teams chances.

The final award was for the "Girlpower" player of the year award. (Previous winner R Llewellyn)
This years winner for the second year in a row was R Llewellyn, for wonderful performances in both forms of the game. This guy is all class and won most things tonight, well done.

Well the South Australian Redbacks Night of Nights was going to be a special one...
There were reporters everywhere all to get the answer to the BIG question...

Who would take away the SACA Player of the Year??? NO!!!

But who would Manager Brendon Goff have as his date this season...

The night started with the red carpet glamour as huge as ever, and it wasn't long before the big question was answered, Brendon Goff, arrived in a brand new Holden HSV R8, and as the doors opened Goff stepped out with none other then movie star Keira Knightley and Brittney Spears....
The media were shocked as Spears was seen days earlier at the Yorkshire awards ceremony with manager Jason Pike, However Spears told reporters that the reason she was with Pike was that he offered her a large sum of cash and that it was the only reason she was there...

Anyway to the ceremony, and with SA having a Brilliant season again, the awards were expected to be a closely fought contest...

The 1st Award of the night was the One Day Player of the Year award...
In 3rd place with 119 points was Paceman Shane Bond, in 2nd with 126 points was Luke French, However winner with a massive 161 points and retaining the award he won last season was Rob Stratton..

The Next Award of the Night was the Rookie of the Year Award. the 2 contenders Liam Bradley and Nathan Adam, The winner Nathan Adam...

The Next award was the Services to South Australian Cricket Award, There was only 1 contender and it was an emotional moment as Darren Lehmann accepted the award..

The Four Day Player of the Year award was next and with a clean sweep of the Four Day comp there were many great performances...
In 3rd Position with 170 points their was a 3-way tie, Andy Flower, Mahela Jayawardene and Ben Dennet. In 2nd with a impressive 210 points was Owen Snow, However winner with a incredible 280 Points was again Rob Stratton..

The Next award was the Coach's Award, Manager Brendon Goff had a tough decision but The award went to Veteran Keeper Andy Flower who stamped his class on the WCC this season with some brilliant performances..

Two Awards remained, 1st was the Fans Player of the Year, this award went surprisingly to the departing Vic Oliver..

Last of all was the BIG one, the SACA Player of the Year, in 3rd spot with 231 points was Owen Snow... In 2nd with 247 points was Andy Flower, however winner of the award for the 2nd year running with a incredible 441 points was Rob Stratton...

After the awards the party continued and in usual fashion Goff and his lady guests dissapeared to the comfort of the Presidential suite...

Yeh i heard she lowered her standards after she was rejected by her marriage proposal to Pike. Pike had his way then dumped her and was the next day seen out and about with drew barrymore.
