Jail = US spelling

Gaol = Aussie spelling

Hogwash! I have the Oxford Concise Australian Dictionary right in front of me, it says Gaol is a derivitive (sp) of Jail. Nothing mentioned about American or Australian.

P.S. don't you think it is funny I have a dictionary, and I am on a forum using a word that I'm not sure how to spell.
