Retirements for Season 4

The retirement structure will be the same as last year and is as follows. Due to the shortened seasons time frame wise the players will only age once every 2 seasons now and their retirement chances will be halved, as a result there is only 5-8 players retiring this season.

I will announce them one at a time throughout the season in this thread. As per usual you will get a reitrement rookie to replace the retiring player. However this is where it will be a bit different, this is what will happen:

On the day your player announces his retirement you will be offered a replacement rookie, you will be given all his usual stats, you may then either choose to take this player as your retirement rookie or you can pass on him and be offered another one. You will then be offered another one with his usual stats and you can then again choose to keep or pass on him, however if you pass on the second one then your third one is the one you keep regardless of his ability compared to the first two. I think that makes sense!

If a player of yours retires and you don't post your intentions in this thread within a week of the retirement you will keep the first rookie. Rookies will be offered in the order in which they come out of the sim, not from best to worst or anything like that. For fairness sake if a player from my team retires I will keep the first one that is simmed.

If this is a bit confusing for anybody I'll be happy to clarify etc...

CARTER TO RETIRE AT SEASONS END

Long serving West Midlands all rounder Neil Carter has today confirmed that the current WCC season will be his last. Carter has been a mainstay of the Warwickshire teams for the first two seasons and has been viewed as an important player in West Midlands first campaign. A popular player among the fans Carter has struggled to find his best form in recent seasons and will depart WCC with a less than spectacular record. At this mornings press conference he had this to say; "At the age of 35 it's fair to say i've had a long and successful career and I have been pleased with the way I have bowled this season, I haven't been at my best for some time and I'm glad I can announce my retirement on the back of some good hauls. Now is the time the club would be better off giving some youngsters a run." Due to WCC rules of not changing squads mid season Carter has said he is happy to stay on until the end of the current campaign and will then not attempt to secure a new contract.

Neil Carter hits out during a One Day game last season

Despite being at the club for over two years Carter has managed just 3 first class in which he has taken 9 wickets at 48.77. His best game came earlier this season when in the absence of James Kirtley he took a couple of wickets and scored a valuable 30 with the ball. Carter however has long been viewed as a One Day specialist and his better performances have come in this form of the game. His name is generally one of the first to come up on the teamsheet and has played 20 games in One Dayers for the club. His 23 career wickets have come at a slightly inflated 41.96 but this is something he will be working on for the rest of this season.

As part of World Club Cricket's promotion of youth cricket West Midlands will get a young rookie to add to their squad for season three, the first player they will be offered is 19 year old fast bowler P Butts. Their manager now has the choice to either accept Butts based on his stats below or they can pass on him and be offered a different player instead. If no decision is made in the next seven days then Butts will join the West Midlands squad next season.

P Butts - Fast Bowler (19 Years Old)
FC Matches: 12 Bat 13 OPM 19 Strike Rate 72 Eco 3.82
OD Matches: 12 bat 5 OPM 9 Strike Rate 50 Eco 3.08

I'm hoping the retirement sim is very thoughtful. It would be unlikely for Hayden to give the game away when he's in great form. We'll definitely struggle without him.

Dont think the sim takes those sorts of things into consideration. In fact after seeing this years list of retirement I'm certain it doesnt.

This is the worst post I have ever seen in WCC, I know you're going to leave Hayden until last...

QUEENSLAND STAR ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

35 year old Queensland fast bowler Charl Langeveldt this morning shocked the WCC world with news that he would retire at seasons end. Langeveldt; a new recruit for this season has impressed in one day cricket and many thought he would continue on for at least one more season. He confirmed this morning at a news conference that on field performances had little to do with his decision and that the true reason was that he and his family aren't enjoying their time in Australia. Reports have said that Langevelt's manager had been in contact with Titans coach Matt Luff and Cobras manager Simon Fitzsimmons about a possible return to South Africa for season four but both were against the plan. His retirement will come as a blow to Queensland coach Kyle Wright who many feel has just started to get the balance right in his bowling stocks. News of another possible retirement in the Queensland camp is loud but Bulls officials have declined comment saying they'll cross that bridge when they get there.

Despite holding a WCC contract for three seasons Langeveldt has yet to secure a First Class debut, this may yet still happen at some time this season but you cant help but thinking this fact may have had something to do with his retirement. His performances in One Day cricket have been useful and he was a major target for Queensland in the last trading period, with 19 career matches and 28 wickets @ 31 on the board its not hard to see why he is so popular among the fans. His best season to date has easily been the current one where he had taken an impressive 10 wickets at a little under 16 in four matches.

End of the Road for Langeveldt

As part of World Club Cricket's promotion of youth cricket Queensland will get a young rookie to add to their squad for season three, the first player they will be offered is 19 year old fast bowler C Lacewalla. Their manager now has the choice to either accept Lacewalla based on his stats below or they can pass on him and be offered a different player instead. If no decision is made in the next seven days then Lacewalla will join the Queensland squad next season.

C Lacewalla - Fast Bowler (19 Years Old)
First Class Matches: 17 Bat 13 OPM 25 Strike Rate 47 Eco 2.7
One Day Matches: 17 Bat 8 OPM 8 Strike Rate 29 Eco 4.5
