Academy Season Launched! Nominate Your Player To Join
ACADEMY SET TO LAND IN THE CARIBBEAN
Season three of World Club Cricket will also see the third installment of an academy series. In previous seasons we have seen the competition take place in the USA and in Africa, this year we will be focussing our attention on the Caribbean and its surrounds. This area is hugely important to WCC with the possiblity of future expansion into this area with a team in the main competition it will be important the people here get involved. The academy has been an invaluable part of WCC's success in recent times, nearly all clubs boast stars who have been part of this competition with last years best players including NSW's all rounder B Casson and NZI wicketkeeper batsman J Neill. This year will see a slightly shorter competition with four matches deducted from the schedule, there will be 12 matches in each form with 10 teams taking part. With the tournament taking place over 6 weeks it will be a great test for WCC's youngsters. Managers now get to nominate a player from their current squad to play in this yeara series, keeping in mind these players will be unavailable for play for your WCC team while they are there. The only restrictions are that the players must be either 24 years or younger, or have played less than 30 games in at least one form. Also note what sort of role you would like your player to play, e.g opening batsman, bowl 1st change etc... Remember no one is forced to send a player, it is totally optional. WCC Players Code:
Player Team Role T Weston Auckland Middle Order bat and WK T Pickworth Cobras Bat #3 both forms - bowl 1st or 2nd change W Locke Kandurata Bat #3 and Keep A Straiton Karachi Bowl lots of overs I Pearson Kent Open Batting both forms A Ur-Rehmann NSW OD Opening Bat and bowl a bit - Play FC S Gillingham NZI Bat #5 both forms - Open the bowling both forms M Hasan Queensland Bat #7 in both forms K Franks SA Open the bowling and bat as high as possible D Cowe SZI Open the batting and bowl as little as possible - Tasmania C Fernando Titans Bat #8 and bowl 2nd change None Victoria n/a Q Adam WA Open the bowling in both forms G Lance West Mid Bat #7 both forms - bowl 1st change B Virdi Yorkshire Open Bowling in both forms - bat 7 or 8 in FC Last edited by Simon; 02-05-2009 at 05:29 PM. |

Q Adam will go from WA. Want him to take the new pill in both forms of the game.
EDIT: Does this mean he can't play in the OD game this week? Or is he unavailable from the week after this game? Apologies if it was written in the orginal post, but cbf reading. Also, devo Copey didn't get a mention as one of the stars. Was the only good thing about WA cricket last season.

B Virdi from Yorkshire, please.
To open the bowling in both forms, and if possible bat at about 7 or 8 in FC.

Kent will send I Pearson over. We would like him to open the batting in both forms.

When is the deadline to send a player to the academy?
EDIT: Can you also nominate a player to play in only one form of the game during their time at the academy?
