Warwickshire Vs. Karnataka
Karnataka walked into the City of Birmingham Stadium with an unbeaten run of 10 games in the one day form of the game. Between them and that eleventh win was a team of 11 players backed up by 35,000 cheering fans.
Sent into bat Warwickshire made a good start. The openers putting on 65, before Ali went. Masroor (44) batted well, as did Anderson (57). They took the score through to 129/1, before everything turned sh1tty. From 129/1, Warwickshire collapsed to 149/9. However, drama followed as Gregson and Kaneria went on a rampage, putting on a stunning 53 for the last wicket. Gregson made 30 off 31, and Kaneria scored a gutsy, unbeaten 18. These two provided a faint hope, as Warwickshire surpassed 200 in reaching 201.
Needing 202 to win, the Karnataka batsmen ****ily made their way out to the crease. What followed was amazing. Gregson removed with the sixth ball of the innings and Gayle followed three balls later. 6/2 and it only got better. Adams clean bowled Smith, before Kaneria got in on the act, removing Naidu. In a terrible mix up Rangekar was run out. Karnataka suddenly were 33/5, and in some real poop. Further drama followed as Rowland went for 6, and then Kaneria picked up number three, removing Rowell. The score now 62/7. Jones and Moss gave it one more go before Ealham got in the act and as he picked off the tail. Karnataka were bowled out for 103. The Warwickshire players embraced each other, the crowd was going bananas.
"Its a game that will live in the hearts of Warwickshire fans for quite some time. It will remain in mine for quite some time too. I'm really proud of my team. They all deserved the win. They gave everything, pride, passion and heart. The result shows this. Maybe there still is hope, promotion could perhaps, still be acheived."
