Retirements for Season 3

This season retirements will be done a bit differently. I will announce them one at a time throughout the season in this thread. As per usual you will get a reitrement rookie to replace the retiring player. However this is where it will be a bit different, this is what will happen:

On the day your player announces his retirement you will be offered a replacement rookie, you will be given all his usual stats, you may then either choose to take this player as your retirement rookie or you can pass on him and be offered another one. You will then be offered another one with his usual stats and you can then again choose to keep or pass on him, however if you pass on the second one then your third one is the one you keep regardless of his ability compared to the first two. I think that makes sense!

If a player of yours retires and you don't post your intentions in this thread within a week of the retirement you will keep the first rookie. Rookies will be offered in the order in which they come out of the sim, not from best to worst or anything like that. For fairness sake if a player from my team retires I will keep the first one that is simmed.

If this is a bit confusing for anybody I'll be happy to clarify etc...

Kumble Calls It A Day

South Zone India's veteran leg spinner Anil Kumble today announced his retirement from World Club Cricket. At age 38 he has decided that the younger players in the South Zone India squad should be given more chances in the coming season. Kumble played just five matches in season one of World Club Cricket and took an unflattering 16 wickets at nearly 46. He was determined to press on this year, however a poor showing in round one where he went for 1/141 in the second innings proved he may have gone on a bit too long. He will continue to play out the season and will be hoping his performances pick up and he retires on a good note.

Their manager now has the choice to either accept Hatch based on his stats below or they can pass on him and be offered a different player instead. Didn't we do this a couple seasons back and it too forever. Lets hope there is only a couple retirements, especially with our Dad's Army squad.

well of course it will take "forever", the whole season to be exact. I've announced one now and may not for two or three weeks and then do a couple more etc. Everyone will just have to keep an eye on this thread. FTR theres about 11 or 12 retirements from memory.

GIBBS TO RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA NEXT YEAR

Just a month into his contract with Australian state team Victoria, Herschelle Gibbs has announced he will retire at the end of the current World Club Cricket season. At a press conference this morning Gibbs revealed living away from family on a permanent basis was harder than he had thought, he also stated that retirement thoughts had gone through his head earlier in the year after being dumped from the Cape Cobras squad.

Many pundits thought it a tough call to dump Gibbs as he had averaged over 40 in his seven matches in the first class campaign and while his form has been good again this season it has been obvious that he has not been enjoying his cricket as much. Gibbs will be hoping he can go past 1000 career first class runs in WCC by the end of the season and retire on a posivite note with a Victorian promotion to division one.

It is sad to see Gibbsy go, we picked him up knowing it was probably for one season only.

As for young Cowley, he does not fit our structure for next season, and we do not accept him, we wish him well in his cricket career.

EMOTIONAL HOGG ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Western Australian Spinner Brad Hogg today announced his retirement from World Club Cricket. Hogg who has struggled for game time in first class cricket has been a regular fixture in the Warriors one day side. Hogg broke down in tears during his press conference at the conclusion of the Warriors first Twenty20 match of the season against Cobras. It was a bittersweet moment for Hogg who took man of the match honours after 2 cheap wickets and a quickfire 34 not out to win the match for his team. Hogg said now was as good a time to retire as it gives coach Daniel Smith as long as possible to repare for the future. He said a lack of motivation to regain his spot in the longer form had convinced him this season would be his last, he also mentioned the disappointment of missing out on the Australian squad for last seasons all star series was another factor.
