Cricketer Of The Year
NSW Name side!

NSW manager Bugsy Malone has named the first side to take on wa for the start of the first class season. A side that boosts an almost australian pace attack with some quality class batsmen. The big talking point was the omission of test leg spinner Stuart Macgill who was unavailable for comment, but has been seen at the scg training nets with a brown paper bag and 3 bottles of wine. Further news on this later as we where not sure if it was another ad campaign or stuay hitting the bottle.

Lets see how the scg track holds up and if E Cowan will play much part as the part time spinner along with M Clarke or S Katich. Strong side and should be a good game.

COBRAS ANNOUNCE COACHING STAFF

Cape Cobras manager Simon Fitzsimmons today has announced his coaching team for the upcoming season. In a massive boost to the South African franchise Fitzsimmons has recruited some excellent former internationals to join his coaching ranks.

Fitzsimmons announced former South African off spinner and occasional nightwatchman specialist Pat Symox as his assistant manager, the 47 year old who took 37 test wickets at an average of just over 43 brings a wealth of experience as a coach and media personality to the club. Symcox has been given a two year deal with an option for a third in his favour, while the club is excited by his presence here the players realise there is a lot of work to be done if we are to be contenders this season. Symcox will be a surprise addition to some after he was first linked with rivals Titans, but Symcox who was born in the area and grew up here has said returning to Cape Cobras was always his preference.

Making up the rest of Fitzsimmons coaching staff are two other former South African internationals in Adam Bacher and Steve Elworthy. Bacher who is the son of the head of South African cricket will be performing his first coaching role since his recent retirement, being a recent first class cricketer he will have a common link with the players. Bacher who made five half centuries with a highest score of 96 is likely to concentrate on the batting on fielding aspects of the side. As a former Cape Cobras player he will be a vital member of the staff as he already knows the Ins and Outs of the club.

Steve Elworthy has been recruited for his all round skills, a good people manager he would be the first to admit he under achieved in his four test career, taking just 13 wickets he retired knowing he had the potential to do better. A fast bowler who made his international debut at 32 he has been retired for five years in which he was built up an impressive CV, it's believe Cape Cobras had up to beat out up to seven WCC clubs for his signature.

Queensland Name Round One Side

Queensland have named their round one side to tackle South Australia in Division Two of the new World Club Cricket competition. Queensland coach Kyle Wright said he has been happy with pre-season preperations, but was looking for more from his bowlers in the opening round.

"Our batting has been fantastic and we have some wonderful depth in the batting department, but our bowling has really let us down in the pre-season. Hopefully we can turn that around against South Australia." Wright Said

Matthew Hayden has been announced as Queensland Captain. The match will be played at Adelaide Oval.
