Kent and Victoria will meet in round 1 of the one day comp, both of these teams are in the bottom division for good reason, with the exception of new recruit Michael Bevan, kent look weak on the batting side of things. Ronnie Irani comes in at 5 which is just a bit too high for a guy like him. Ben Smith at 3 could score some vital runs at some stage too. Martin Saggers looks like the pick of the bowlers in an otherwise dull attack. Victoria are slightly in front on the head to head in my opinion. Shane Warne adds that little bit more with the ball, while Dave Hussey and Brad Hodge will score enough runs to win a lot of games. Mick Lewis could also be another game breaker with the ball.
Result: Victoria on the back of some lower order runs.

Northerns will host South Australia in a big div 3 clash. It came as a shock to many when both of these sides were named in the bottom division, but both much now prove their worth and work their way up. The signing of Ricky Ponting was massive for Northerns as they try to build up a strong side, the batting isnt great but its reasonable. Mark Boucher Kyle Mills are part of a powerful middle order which wll definately score some quick runs. Brett Lee will need to take a lot of wickets otherwise Northerns wont have a great season, he needs to take a bag this week without doubt. South Australia's batting is without doubt the best in the division, Cosgrove and Lehmann will be dynamite this year, the bowling depth will be an issue, Tait and Gillespie are a class above the rest. The back up bowlers have very little experience which could cause some problems if an injury crisis hits.
Result: Northerns in an upset, i can see SA's 4th and 5th bowlers going for plenty and costing them the game.

game 3 in div 3 is between T&T and Surrey. The Englishmen definately look more focussed on the FC game, but they will win a lot of games in the OD comp. Mark Ramprakash and Nick Pothas will get important runs for them while Jimmy Ormond will do a reasonable job with the ball. Like most teams an injury crisis will destroy any chance of Silverware, keeping a full team on the park is essential. Rikki Clarke could surprise some people this season and turn into a decent all rounder. As per usual Brian Lara will cary the hopes of his team every time he walks out to bat. Wicketkeeper Dinesh Ramdin will be among those to lend support in Lara's cause to gain promotion for his team. The bowling certainly isnt the worst, Merv Dillion could power his side to some important wins but Dave Mohammed will almost be the leading wicket taker i feel, his quest will start in fine fashion this week.
Result: Surrey, its hard to split these sides but Surrey probably just have a better all round team.

The final match of the round is Guyana against Leicestershire. There arent many bigger rivals in wcc history than these 2 sides but season 7 is an all new ball game. Ramnaresh Sarwan will have a big job in leading his side, Shiv Chanderpaul will need to get a lot of runs as well, because they dont look to have a hell of a lot after these guys. Fidel Edwards and Mahendra Nagamootoo will have to take a lot of wickets for Guyana to be competitive. Leics definately arent the worst side going around. Kevin Pietersen will have a big job leading the batting line up with Owais Shah doing his bit too, Alex Tudor and Steve Harmison head an all star bowling line up good enough to match any side in wcc. Its hard to see how Leics wont win this game, but early season jitters may well be a factor.
Result: Leics in a landslide. The bowling is too good for this division while the batting is good enough to score the required runs to win.
