Wicketkeepers.

My understanding was that all teams were required to play one, that is a player whose details state wicketkeeper. I notice that not all teams have.
Does VCM4 take specialist keepers into account? Looking at the extras conceded by teams without a specialist keeper it seems unlikely. If not I think that all teams should be forced to play a player denoted as a keeper anyway.

Well P.Nixon is regularly in the team anyway so therefore I play a Wicketkeeper most of the time, However there have been a number of times where I needed an extra bowler and have not played a Wicketkeeper.. and as far as I know it didn't effect my performances.

Also alot of people just type the players names when summiting a team, i.e don't actualy say who is the Wicketkeeper is... so I guess it dosen't matter.

hmmm interesting......i was struggling to cut my team down to 12 and now i may know how......guess i wont be keeping my keeper

GB - I think a definitive statement needs to be made on this matter. Playing without a denoted keeper is as ridiculous as playing a game of soccer with an outfield player in goal.

Good try Deckard - I think you'll find that all teams are expected to have a player who is denoted as a keeper. :D

i am with u on this one graham. keepers being named is a must. and if they dont then that team would definatley struggle. a proper keeper is always going to be better than just a stand in.

i have always nominated a player as keeper every week so

i am with graham on this one

I have to agree with u Graham...
I have not realy seen any teams who do not have a keeper of some type...

I mean 1 good example is Dravid, he is a part-time keeper and is totally accepted by the game...

But i will put out directive over the next week that teams MUST have a keeper in their 16 man squad....

Here is my view...

If a player is not a keeper...

ie Ricky Ponting starts keeping for Tasmania...

His batting average should take this into account...

It is almost imposssible to bat well, if you've just kept 50 overs....

So if a non-keeper bats then his Batting Average should drop 10...

And the number of byes conceded should go up.
And the likelihood of a caught behind is lessened.

Trouble is with VCM4 not taking all this into account from what I've seen, every team should be forced to select a player denoted on the team lists as a keeper.

Can someone please tell Gilly this, in time for the ashes

I know that he is a keeper but to keep for 90+ overs and then come and hit 200+ @ number 7 is quite imppresive :)

Coming in at number 7 after the Australian Top 6 means he gets 5 or 6 hours break before batting.

Whereas Stewart coming in at 6 for England may as well be opening!
