CW Bar Cup - Season 6

With 52 teams to accomodate in Season 6(16 Academy + 36 Main = 52 Total) IMO the CW Bar cup needs a rethink.

Here is my proprosal:

Round 1 16 Academy: 8 teams through

Round 2 8 Academy: 4 teams through

Round 3 4 Academy: 2 teams through

Round 4 Division 6 teams in: 8 teams: 4 through

Round 5 4 teams: 2 through

Round 6 Rest of the WCC in: 32 teams: 16 through

Round 7 16 teams: 8 through

Quarter Finals 8 teams : 4 through

Semi Finals 4 teams: 2 through

Final 2 teams: Champion decided.

I know what you're thinking: 10 weeks! But if you do it after every 4D round, on a Wednesday. then you have 10 weeks there, and you can put the Final on a seperate week.

What do you think?

I have thought about this and it has been dicussed by the board...

Here are the 2 models which i have thought up...

Model 1 16 Seeded Teams!!!

Prelim Round
8 Academy sides playoff with the 4 winners entering Round One.

Round 1
Un-seeded WCC sides, 8 Remaining Academy sides + 4 Academy sides from Prelim Round =(32 teams) 16 through to Round 2

Round 2
16 winners from Round 1 + All Seeds =(32 teams) 16 through to Round 3

Round 3
16 winners from Round 2

Quarters
8 winners from Round 3

Semi's
4 winners from Quarters

Final
2 winners from Semi's

Model 2 12 Seeded Teams!!!

Prelim Round
8 Academy sides playoff with the 4 winners entering Round One.

Round 1
Un-seeded WCC sides, 8 Remaining Academy sides + 4 Academy sides from Prelim Round =(36 teams) 18 through to Round 2

Round 2
18 winners from Round 1 + Seeds 12-3 =(28 teams) 14 through to Round 3

Round 3
14 winners from Round 2 + Seeds 1 & 2 =(16 teams) 8 through to Quarters

Quarters
8 winners from Round 3

Semi's
4 winners from Quarters

Final

How about:

Prelim Round One:
16 Academy > 8

Prelim round 2:
8 academy > 4

Round One
4 Academy, 12 teams from div 5/6 > 8

Round Two
8 winners from round one, 24 teams from Div 1-4 > 16

Round 3 (last 16)
16 >8

Model 2 looks good with the top 2 seeds getting the extra round off, one question though, will last years cup results have any impact on the seedings of will the come straight from OD?

I like this one it works better with the current divisions and only one extra round. It could also extent the season for Academy sides, with the first two rounds addition rounds.

And the Seedings are as follows

#1 - ACT
#2 - Lancashire
#3 - South Australia
#4 - Kent
#5 - Colts
#6 - Canterbury
#7 - Warwickshire
#8 - Karnataka
#9 - Victoria
#10 - Hampshire
#11 - Auckland
#12 - Glamorgan

It has been decided that this is the way to go...

8 Academy sides will be drawn to play in the Prelim Round which will be held between WCC OD R2 and 4D R2...
Fixtures out soon...

Just a couple of questions.. Will injuries be simmed after each cup round? And, if so, will teams that aren't playing still have injuries?

There is always a chance of injuries... Any team can get injuries at any time...

Players get injured at training or playing tennis or even doing odd jobs around the house. Maybe you should get some better medical staff or instruct your players to be more careful around the house.

mh... I was hoping to just lose my first match and avoid increasing the chances of my Four Day team!

Hoping to lose a game - is that the correct sort of attitude for a senior member, and one of the board at that, to take?

For model 2, why don't all the Academy sides play in the Prelim Round. 8 have to play there and the other 8 just automatically qualify for Round 1.

Because that causes problems later in the cup.

Much better to get the knockout running smoothly asap.

Marc is right.

The plan is the academy sides will be randomly drawn to see which ones go in the Prelim Round and which into R1..
